Tips for a Smooth Recovery after Surgery

Nutrition

In general, nutrition and gut health are extremely important to your body’s function, and in the wound healing process, healing may be compromised or may take a longer time to heal without optimal nutrition.

  • Ensure you’re getting plenty of healthy minerals and vitamins.
  • In conjunction with a wide variety of foods, eating protein rich foods can help to support new healthy tissue growth.
  • Stay hydrated! Try and drink plenty of fluids before and after your procedure.

Get Moving

As soon as your doctor clears you, get moving.

  • Remaining immobile after the recommended time frame, can be detrimental to the healing process and can open you up to other health issues.
  • Staying inside and in bed for long periods of time could negatively affect your mental state.
    • You could start with a light, short walk to soak up some fresh air, vitamin D and get your circulation flowing.
