Scars. They are part of us. And part of our life story. But sometimes we prefer to lighten, soften and flatten our scars. DermaScar was developed with a focus on providing effective prevention and reduction of raised scar formations, such as hypertrophic and keloid scars.

Australian made and owned, DermaScar gels have been formulated with medical grade silicone, which is the recommended 1st line therapy for scar treatment and has also been successfully used in reducing the appearance of scars caused by trauma, burns and surgery.

The gels provide a barrier over the skin that allows the skin to heal internally, are easily applied to most parts of the body including face and over joints (knees and elbows) and works to form a moisture resistant but breathable barrier, just like a “second skin”.

Our new DermaScar Stretch Mark Oil has been specifically designed for the prevention and treatment of all types of stretch marks. The non-greasy oil is smooth and easy to apply to larger areas of skin and in conjunction with massage helps to prevent stretch marks forming.

Whether you wish to embrace your scars or prefer to lighten, soften and flatten scars, DermaScar has a range of formulas, tailored for different skin needs.

How Does DermaScar® Work?

Wound healing and scar formation is a complex process and the regular use of DermaScar can change this process to visibly improve the long-term appearance of scars.1

Phase 1 - Apply DermaScar over the scar twice daily.

Phase 2 - DermaScar is an advanced topical silicone gel that dries quickly to form a clear, flexible, water-resistant barrier or film over the scar. This silicone barrier acts to raise the temperature of the skin underneath it, to reduce water loss and improve the hydration of the scar tissue and surrounding skin.1

Phase 3 - These 3 localised actions combine to return the skin's barrier function to a normal state and production of more collagen - the bodies normal healing response (and the building block of scar tissue) - can reduce for that closed and healed scar.

By "turning off" the excessive production of collagen, the raised scar will start to flatten become paler and more flexible.1

How to Use DermaScar®

Step 1.

Apply DermaScar twice daily - in the morning and evening. DermaScar must be applied to dry, intact skin. If you have a scar from surgery, check that the wound has healed first before applying DermaSar. This is typically 10-14 days after surgery.

Before applying DermaScar clean the area first with mild soap and water and then pat dry. Important Information: A wound is normally healed when it is closed and dry. If the wound is wet or weeping it may not be fully healed. If you have any doubts check with your doctor.

Step 2.

Place a pea-size amount of gel at the top of the scar and gently spread thinly over the affected area. A pea-size amount goes a long way, so just use enough DermaScar gel to thinly cover all of your scar.

There is no added benefit of using extra gel or to apply a thick layer. All that will happen is that it will take longer to dry. If the scar is on your face be careful not to get any gel near or in your eyes. DermaScar is not for internal use.

Step 3.

Allow the gel to dry for 1 to 2 minutes. Once dry, DermaScar may be covered with. cosmetics or sunscreen.

To help achieve the full healing benefits of DermaScar, it is important that you apply DermaScar each morning and night for at least 2 months as scars can continue to form for up to a year after the initial injury.1,9

It can take up to a month before visible improvements are noticed15 and for large scars treatment may need to be continued for longer than 2 months to achieve the best possible results.1
